Jim Walker RIP

We were greatly saddened to hear of the death of our long-serving General Manager, Jim Walker, last week. Jim had been with Lansbury Estates since 1980 and was a central figure in the management of the site.

Throughout the 80’s and 90’s, Jim oversaw the development of new buildings on site and the installation of many tenants, some of whom became good friends.

Jim’s knowledge of the Lansbury Estate was encyclopaedic. He could remember the names of all previous tenants, unit numbers and their pet grumbles.
He was also extremely efficient in producing rent invoices and chasing payment to the great satisfaction of the chairman.

Jim was an experienced negotiator, especially with contractors. His background in personnel may have added to his ability to read people. His early career included a stint with Plessey and the Post Office, complete with training up a telegraph pole.

Jim was also a loyal companion to the chairman, ALC, and usually accompanied him to events, quite often with a glass or two of Sancerre or Viognier, never water.

Jim will be missed. We wish his family sincere condolences.
